Mourning Reading in Old Mashhad; A Heritage that Needs Documentation

A veteran historian and narrator of Mashhad's history, explaining the traditions of mourning reading and grieving in Khorasan, said: Mourning chanting in old Mashhad was a specialized and deep-rooted ritual that, in addition to preserving mourning culture, played an important role in protecting Iranian musical systems. However, many of these traditions have faded today, and to preserve them, documentation and cultural revival are necessary.
