This morning, Thursday, 4th of Tir 1405 (Persian calendar), coinciding with the Day of Ashura of Hossein (A.S.), the traditional ceremony of "Mud Anointing" and mourning by Lorestan residents living in the capital was held on Ferdows Boulevard in Tehran. Mud anointing is one of the oldest mourning rituals in Lorestan Province. The people of Lorestan demonstrate their love and devotion to Imam Hossein (A.S.) on the day of Ashura through an ancient tradition called "Mud Anointing" or "Mud Ceremony." Today, as every year, the mourners of Hossein showed their sorrow and tears, covering their bodies with mud and singing with hearts full of pain, expressing their profound grief through the mud anointing ceremony to the whole world.
