The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency said that after the Middle East war, there is a need for a "very strong" verification system to ensure that Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons. Rafael Grossi stated that the Iranian government has explicitly declared it has no intention to produce nuclear weapons but added, "declaring intent is not enough." After a Singaporean ship was targeted in the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. held Iran responsible. Meanwhile, the newly established Persian Gulf Waterways Management Authority announced that any consequences of navigating through routes not approved by this authority will be the responsibility of the ship's captain and the owning and operating company. The attack on this ship on Thursday caused the suspension of the Strait of Hormuz evacuation operations by the United Nations Shipping Organization.
