Iranian media report that the "first round of quadrilateral talks" was halted after "80 minutes of discussion for internal consultations," and subsequently, the Iranian delegation left the negotiations in protest of Donald Trump's threats. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, head of the Iranian negotiators, wrote on X: "We do not consider the American threats significant. They better be careful about their statements." Just before the talks began, JD Vance, Mr. Trump's deputy, called the meeting historic. Moments after his remarks, Mr. Trump threatened on Truth Social that if Tehran does not restrain its proxy forces in Lebanon, the US will again deliver a "hard blow" to Iran. These talks were mediated by Pakistan and Qatar in Switzerland.
