JD Vance's reliance on Biden administration agreement with Raisi government / Verification of JD Vance's claim: Are Iran's released assets only usable to buy American grains?

The U.S. Vice President claimed today at a press conference at the Bürgenstock Hotel in Switzerland: "If money is released, it will only be spent on purchasing American soy, corn, and wheat." This claim is false and mostly aimed at providing an explanation for the domestic Washington audience and responding to opponents of the peace agreement. However, the issuance of permits to use part of Iran’s frozen assets to purchase grains from the U.S. is a matter agreed upon in the year 1402 (2023-2024) by officials of the late Raisi government with the then U.S. administration.
