Nearly three decades ago, the Persian zebra population in Kavir National Park, located in Semnan province, faced the brink of extinction with only 13 individuals recorded in the Iranian year 1363 (1984-1985). However, dedicated and effective conservation efforts have significantly revived the species, resulting in a notable population increase to 55 individuals by this year. This recovery highlights the success of wildlife preservation initiatives in the park and marks an important milestone in the protection of Iran’s native fauna, ensuring the survival and continued growth of the Persian zebra in its natural habitat.
